If you haven’t heard of Birchbox it’s a beauty site to buy stuff but on top of that it also has an option to pay a $10 monthly fee for a box of beauty items to come to your door, they are usually deluxe sample sizes. I have been subscribed for 2 months and have not been disappointed until this month. This month’s box had nice stuff in it but not really what I expected for February since it’s Valentines and stuff. Although this month wasn’t the best box I won’t cancel my subscription just yet. The stuff in the box I will definitely try and maybe do a review on this blog. Here is what’s in the box I received….

I wish the Jouer moisture tint was a bigger sample (I love Jouer products!). I did try the Orofluido Elixir and really like it, It makes my hair shiny and it also smells good. I also tried the chocolate and it was very nice. I would definitely buy both.

So now I’m waiting for my Glambag to arrive but more on that later!

The past is in the past but…

They past may be in the past but sometimes you still have to talk about it. I was talking to my dad on the phone and some how we got on the subject of my ex husband. He was saying that his girlfriend looked mean and my response for that was he needs someone to keep him in line because otherwise nothing would ever get done. When we were together I had to keep reminding him that we had appointments and stuff because he would always procrastinate so bad that he would wait until the last minute and I mean the LAST minute to find paper work and stuff. For example; we had to go to the DMV and we needed certain paper work so 2 weeks leading up to the appointment I kept reminding him we needed this certain paper work (this was his stuff not mine because I have all mine where I can find it) and he needed to find it. I offered to help him but he said he knew where it was and he was ready. The day came and guess what? He couldn’t find it so he never made it there. I hated when he took MY paper work and “filed” it away because then it would be lost. It was stuff like that that annoyed me about him. There is a lot more about him that made me walk away from our marriage but this is just a little piece I wanted to share.

There is one more thing I need to get off my chest, I dislike when someone makes a fuss over needing an address and then when they receive it they never send the so called important paper work. If you are going to make a fuss about it at least follow through and send it. What are you waiting for? I think it was to get someone to stop bugging her about it but she really doesn’t want to send it. We will be patiently waiting for it.

Christmas is coming

I know, it’s been awhile, yeah, yeah. Anyway, Christmas will be here before we know it! Are you ready yet?

I’m mostly ready but need to get a few more things. We are going to have a houseful of guests this year and we are excited! I have cookies to make and things to prepare, I love this time of year! Every e=year my dad asks me to make a list of things I want for Christmas and every year I tell him I don’t need anything. I make good money so I buy what I want when I want it but he insists. So, I put little things on my list for him that are inexpensive just to make him happy. All I ever want for Christmas is to be with friends and family but he seems to think we need something to open on Christmas day. Christmas is not about presents to me it’s about having friends, family and good food. That’s what makes me happy.

I was talking to a good friend the other day and she showed me something I now want (No, I didn’t put this on my Christmas list..lol) It was a Pochette by Jouer. is mostly a cosmetic company but they also make a few other things. I got hooked on their makeup through a site called . They have this monthly subscription thing and every month you get deluxe samples of some very nice stuff and one of those things this month was Jouer lip gloss and it’s so nice!. This is what I want from Jouer…

…Except it’s way too expensive for what it is. Maybe Santa will put it under the tree for me? Or I might end up buying it anyway…lol

Summer has begun!

Here in our household summer has started. We started using our grill more frequently and we have been outdoors a lot. I’m glad summer finally came, there for a while I didn’t think winter would ever end. This summer we plan on spending time with family, going to parks, hiking, Biking, taking the dogs places, Picnics, camping, going to the beach and going to amusement parks. I’m excited and can’t wait! Here are some Summer type pictures I took:

I’m really happy now because I got a new job! This new job will be less stressful and a more pleasant place to work. I have two friends working there that also worked at the the other place with me and they love working where I will be starting next week. This place pays more and has better staff to kid ratios and have a whole lot of benefits/perks as well.

On to the dogs, If you never read this blog before we have two Golden Retrievers who keep us busy. Jack is our oldest (9 years old) and Maddie is the youngest (1 year old). They are so sweet together.

It’s been 4 months since I posted and I can’t believe time flew by so fast! Life here has been busy….we have been enjoying the outdoors since it has been so nice outside. Speaking of enjoying the outside we have been taking the dogs out quite a lot. They love going to the dog park and making new friends and so do Justin and I. We have met so great people at the dog park, it’s nice that it’s like a 5 minute walk from our house.

Now the the warm weather has arrived we love using the grill. The first thing we made was Justin’s famous hamburgers and they were good as usual.

It’s really nice being able to eat out on the deck. What would make it better is eating out on the deck with a view of the beach and ocean..<3

Anyway here is some other random pictures I have taken the past few months. If you have seen my flickr page then you have seem most of these already.

I thought I would share one of my favorite healthy recipes with you.

Summer Harvest Bakes Pasta – Serves 8

What you need:
Kosher salt, to taste
1/2 lb. (250g) penne or rigatoni
3 Tbs. olive oil, plus more as needed
Kernels cut from 2 ears of corn
Freshly ground pepper, to taste
1Tbs. sliced garlic
8 zucchini, about 2 lb. (1kg) total, cut into half moons
1 1/2 cups (375g) pasta sauce (your choice)
1/2 cup (20g) thinly sliced fresh basil
6 oz. (185g) mozzarella cheese, grated
2 oz. (60g)
Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 400F (200C)

Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Generously salt the water, add the pasta and cook, stirring occasionally until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain the pasta and rinse under cold running water. Set aside.

In a 12-inch (30cm) nonstick fry pan over medium-high heat, warm 1 Tbs. of the olive oil. Add corn, season with salt and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the corn is slightly golden, 6 to 8 minutes. Add garlic and cook, stirring occasionally until garlic in translucent, about 1 minute. Transfer to a large bowl, set aside.

Return the pan to medium-high heat and warm the remaining 2 Tbs. olive oil. working on batches, add zucchini, season with salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until the zucchini is tender and golden brown, 6 to 8 minutes. Add to the bowl with the corn. Repeat with the remaining zucchini, adding more oil to the pan as needed. Wash and dry the pan and brush the inside with olive oil.

Add the pasta, pasta sauce, basil, mozzarella, and half of the Parmigiano-Reggiano to the bowl with the vegetables. Transfer the pan to the oven and bake until golden brown on top, 20 to 25 minutes. Serve warm.

This year for Christmas I got two tickets from one of the parents at the school I work at, for a hockey came, The Washington Capitals Vs. The Montreal Canadians. I never was into hockey before but then again I never really gave a chance. I was expecting to be bored and not enjoying it…..boy was I wrong! I enjoyed it more then American football because it’s less stop and go and it involves the fans and there it a lot going on. So anyway we went and had a great time and we are going again!

Thanksgiving memories

This Thanksgiving was a good one because a lot of things have changed since last year. The one person that made everything drama is now gone and you could tell because it was so much more relaxed and calm…not to mention that I got to see my brother for more then 30 minutes. Although the Holiday went by fast it was great to be home because I haven’t seen my family for almost a year.

It was great seeing my mom and dad again. I was surprised at how much weight my dad has lost he’s looking great! I wanted to get a picture of my mom and dad but only dad wanted to pose for a picture. My mom hates getting her picture taken…lol

After we ate turkey and all that we decided we needed a walk….we needed the fresh air. It’s funny the things you see sometimes. We walked by this house that had a lamp tree. I think it’s cute. (if anyone from Second life it reading this …I would love this lamp tree in SL!)

Last but not least and according to my dad..this is the #1 mince meat pie…

This version of mince meat pie may smell good but I think what’s in it is disgusting. It’s not the same as the UK version.

Vacation!

Justin and I had off this past week and the weather couldn’t of been better. We did a lot of hiking and we went to some fall festivals too. I have a lot of pictures to share…

We went hiking and took Maddie, she loved it!

We wish we could of taken Jack but he’s not quite ready yet. I can’t wait until we all can go hiking again. We did take them both for a walk at the park that’s close to our house though. We had fun.
